The Technology Leadership Network and Kent School District believe and understand that the workplace is changing and students need to be prepared for that workplace. Kent School District’s mission is to “Successfully Prepare All Students for Their Future.” They have relied on research that shows that one-to-one computing increases student success. Their community’s One-to-One initiative is devoted to developing an equitable, innovative, student-centered, and future-oriented learning community.
Kent believes that the one-to-one program supports an innovative delivery model, compliments project based learning, broadens learning beyond the classroom, prepares students for the workforce, provides equitable access, embraces the “Net Generation” and beyond, and develops thinking skills for the 21st century.
Do you have a one-to-one initiative? Are your beliefs consistent with those that Kent School District has outlined or are they different?
To learn about Kent’s efforts you can meet with them at the T+L Conference in Denver October 28-30, 2009. Included in this post is a video to give you a taste of their program.
